What is the SMT peripheral equipment?

  SMT is the abbreviation of Surface Mounted Technology. It is the current most popular technology and process in the electronic assembly industry.

  SMT basic process elements: Silk-screen printing (or dispensing) -> mounting -> (solidification) -> reflow soldering -> cleaning -> detection -> repair silk-screen printing: Its function is applying the soldering paste or adhesive on the PCB bonding pad through skipping, preparing for the welding of components.

  The equipment used is the screen printing machine (silk screen printing machine) and is located in the front end of SMT production line.

  Glue dropping: it drops the glue on the fixed location of PCB, and its main function is fixing the components on the PCB.

  The equipment used is dispensing machine and is located in the front end of SMT production line or in the back of test equipment.

   Placement: its role is accurately installing the surface assembly components on the fixed location of PCB.

  The equipment used is the chip mounter and is located in the back of screen printing machine of SMT production line.

  Solidification: Its function is melting the adhesive, thus bonding the surface assembly components with PCB firmly.

  The equipment used is the curing oven and is located in the back of chip mounter of SMT production line.

  Reflow soldering: its function is melting thewelding paste, thus bonding the surface assembly components with PCB firmly.

  The equipment used is the reflow oven and is located in the back of chip mounter of SMT production line.

  Cleaning: its function is removing the welding residues which are harmful to the human body such as scaling powder on the assembled PCB.

  The equipment used is the cleaning machine, and its location is not fixed, online or offline. 

  Test: its function is carrying out the test of welding quality and assembly quality of the assembled PCB.

  The equipment used includes magnifying glass, microscope, in-circuit tester (ICT), flying probe tester, automatic optical inspection (AOI), X - RAY detection system, function tester, etc.

  The location is selected in the proper place of the production line according to the test needs.

  Repair: its function is reworking the PCB with fault in the test. The tool used includes soldering iron, repair workstation, etc. It can be put in any place of the production line.
